Know the franchise before you wire the fee.
A franchise costs $50k–$1M to open. We read the brand's official Franchise Disclosure Document and lay out what decides whether it's worth it — investment, fees, Item 19 earnings, litigation, and franchisee churn — each benchmarked against 2,187 brands. Independent, and built for the buyer — not the franchisor.
Why not just read the FDD?
You can — it's public, and 200–300 pages. What you can't get from one document is context: whether a 7% royalty is high, whether $560k average revenue is good, whether the network is shrinking faster than its peers. That only comes from holding the whole market — which is what every report draws on.
See what the whole corpus says in our franchise statistics (earnings-disclosure rates, closure rates, lawsuits), compare any two brands head-to-head, or download the open dataset (CC-BY-4.0).
